(Daytona Beach, FL)  After a two-year hiatus, The Mt. SAC Pep and Dance Teams travelled to Daytona Beach (Florida) to compete at the 2018 National Cheer Association (NCA)/National Dance Alliance (NDA) Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championships, where over 100 schools from throughout the nation competed at the event, held on April 5th through the 7th.  The Mt. SAC Dance Team captured the National Championship (division III) in the hip hop category and placed fourth in the jazz dance category, which represents the highest finish (in that category) in Mt. SAC history.

The Mountie Pep Squad took second place in the Intermediate Junior College Co-Ed Cheer Division Division, 4.51 points behind eventual champion, Iowa Central Community College.  This was the Pep Squad's highest finish, in their fourth appearance at the event (3rd and 4th place previous finishes).  "The team did extremely well and exceeded my expectations," replied Pep Squad Head Coach, R.G. Ignacio. "They performed their best routine at the right time and made our staff proud. Their success is a testament to their hard work this season and we hope to use this momentun to take the program further."

Both the Pep and Dance Teams will be looking to add to their rosters with additional members and will be hosting auditions in May (Dance Team May 12th, Pep Squad May 18-19).  For additional information on future auditions, please visit the Mt.
