Mounties on Fire! Seventh Win in last Ten Games; Defeat Chaffey College, 6-2

(Ontario, CA) A late-season push by the Mt. SAC Baseball team has the Mounties in the win column for the seventh time in the last 10 games with a 6-2 victory over Chaffey College in a South Coast Conference North game Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman first baseman Conner Shepherd led the Mounties with three hits and two RBIs.

Freshman pitcher Jacob evened his record to 4-4 in his seven innings and freshman reliever Mason Corneliussen (2 innings) recorded his fifth save.

Two other Mounties had two hits apiece – freshman center fielder Quinn Cotter (2 for 4, run, dbl., RBI) and sophomore designated hitter Andrew Garcia (2-4, run, RBI). Freshman catcher Daniel Ramirez added a two-run home run.

With Mt. SAC leading 3-0 in the fourth inning, the Panthers added solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings to close to within, 3-2.

However, the Mounties (15-19, 7-10) added two runs in the seventh and one in the ninth for the 6-2 victory.

Cotter and Garcia each had RBIs in the seventh and Shepherd doubled in Garcia in the ninth.
