Mt. SAC Baseball on a Hot Streak! Wins Fourth of Last Six; Defeats ELAC, 4-2; Avila Records Sixth Win

(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Baseball team, winners of four of the last six games, defeated East Los Angeles College, 4-2, at Mazmanian Field Thursday afternoon.

Sophomore pitcher Josh Avila, who has won three games in a row and a save, upped his record to 6-4.

Avila gave up two runs in the third and shut the Huskies down over the next four innings, allowing six hits. He also struck out seven and didn't allow a walk. He leads the Mounties with 54 strikeouts on the season.

Freshman reliever Mason Corneliussen pitched the final two innings for his fourth save. He also had five strikeouts.

The Mounties scored single runs in the second, fourth, fifth and seventh innings.

Trailing 2-1 in the fourth inning, freshman right fielder Brandon Bradshaw singled in freshman second baseman Ray Mata-Lemos (2 for 3, 2 runs) to tie the game, 2-2.

In the Mt. SAC fifth, freshman left fielder Nic Sandoval reached first on an error and shortstop Ryon Knowles scored for the 3-2 lead.

Freshman first baseman Jacob Castillo hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh, scoring freshman center fielder Quinn Cotter for the, 4-2 lead.

Third baseman Conner Shepherd and catcher Daniel Ramirez each collected two hits for the Mounties.
