Baseball Breaks Out of Slump in a Big Way with a 10-8 win Over Cerritos College

(Norwalk, CA) The Mt. SAC Baseball team broke out of its four-game losing streak in a big way with a 10-8 victory over Cerritos College in a South Coast Conference North game Thursday afternoon.

The Mounties pounded out 11 hits, scoring all 10 runs over the last six innings.

Freshman first baseman Jacob Castillo (2-4, 2 runs) and sophomore catcher Andrew Garcia (2-4, 2 RBIs) led the Mounties with two hits each, while sophomore designated hitter Tyrus Lineberger had three RBIs and walked three times.

Castillo recorded his second save of the year and sophomore pitcher Logan Muratalla picked up his second win against one loss.

With the score tied, 6-6, in the seventh, the Mounties (8-11) put up two runs in the eighth and ninth innings to lead, 10-6. The Falcons tried to rally in the bottom of the ninth with two runs, but fell short, 10-8.

Mt. SAC will host El Camino on Saturday at noon.
