For the first time this season, the Cerritos College women's soccer team did not come way with a win. With an extra-time penalty kick goal by visiting Mt. San Antonio College on Tuesday, the Falcons (12-0-1, 6-0-1) finished their South Coast Conference game in a 2-2 tie. Cerritos took a 2-1 lead with less than 13 minutes remaining, but a penalty kick was called when two Falcon players scrambled for a loose ball with Mt. SAC's Stephanie Catone in front of the goal. Diane Enriquez stepped up in the 92nd minute and scored past sophomore goalkeeper Alexis Carrillo (Bishop Amat HS) to knot the game. Cerritos will now travel to Los Angeles Harbor College on Friday for a 4:00 p.m. contest.

The Falcons welcomed back freshman Cassidy Hodson (Villa Park HS), who had missed the last six weeks with an injury. She needed less than a minute after stepping on the field to give Cerritos a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when she one-timed a pass from freshman Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS) over the Mountie defense. The pass found a wide open Hodson in front of the net and she chipped the ball past Mt. SAC goalkeeper Jacqueline Torres.

But before the end of the first half, Mt. San Antonio tied the game, and snapped the Falcons seven-game shutout streak, when Alyssa Dunphy scored on a header off a cornerkick in the 22nd minute. Cerritos took her 2-1 lead in the 78th minute on a kick from inside the corner flag from freshman Celinna Montano (Warren HS). Her shot bent in such a way that when Torres was able to secure the ball, she was in the net, which resulted in a goal.

Cerritos had chances both early and late in the game to pull out the win. Just one minute into the game, sophomore Claudia Lopez (Downey HS) missed on a clean shot at the net, while she and sophomore April Juarez (Bishp Amat HS/USC) each had chances in the second half. The best chance came with less than five minutes left when the Mounties Daisy Macias headed out a ball that was going in the net off the foot of Lopez.
