Sacramento, CA – With a 2:00pm start time the field warmed up nicely from the earlier Women's Soccer Championship. Mt. SAC came into the game as the 4-time defending State Champions.
In the 1st half of the game, both teams had minimal scoring opportunities. Hartnell had a couple of scoring chances which they were unable to convert. Mt. SAC had their scoring opportunities nullified by offside calls.
In the 2nd half Hartnell controlled the ball which is shown by the number of corners (6) and shots (9) in the 2nd half. The only goal of the game came off a corner kick by Lorenzo Vasquez with a header from the far post put into the net by Joni Cruz. Hartnell's great defense was shown throughout the game holding Mt. SAC to no shots on goal though Goal Keeper Fabian Narez was able to come out of his box to clear out some over-passes by Mt. SAC.
This victory by Hartnell was their 1st CCCAA Men's Soccer Championship for the Panthers. The MVP of the CCCAA Men's Final four was Hartnell's #10 Joni Cruz.
