Doug Todd was named Mt. SAC's first (full-time) Director of Athletic Special Events in October of 2019.  Todd had been serving in this position since January 2018, but has worked with the Mt. SAC Athletics Special Events for nearly three decades.  In this position, he will direct Mt. SAC's large athletic special events including the Mt. SAC Relays and Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational as well as Mt. SAC Athletics post-season championships.

In 2016, Todd shocked the track & field world by capturing the bid for the 2020 US Olympic Track and Field Trials.        

Todd arrived at Mt. SAC in the fall of 1991 serving as an adjunct professor and assistant track & field coach.  In 1995, he became a full-time professor and took over as head coach/program director of both cross country and track & field programs.  During his 23 year head coaching tenure, Todd distinguished himself as one of the most prolific head coaches in the history of community college athletics.  He has guided the program to an amazing 13 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Track & Field/Cross Country State Championships, 20 Southern California Regional Championships and 33 South Coast Conference (SCC) Championships.  From 1997-2002, he captured a state record of seven consecutive CCCAA Men's Track & Field State Championships.

In addition, Todd has led Mt. SAC’s teams to seven 3rd place and nine 2nd place state finishes, for a total of 29 CCCAA State Trophies.

A well respected figure in track & field/cross country world, Todd has been named SCC Conference Coach of the Year 23 times (nine for Cross Country/14 times for Track & Field) and was recognized by his peers as California Community College Coach of the Year, six times (three times for Cross-Country and three times for Track & Field).

Prior to arriving at Mt. SAC, he spent 11 years as a teacher and head coach (Track & Field/Cross Country ('84-'95) at Artesia High School in Lakewood, California.  Todd began his career at his alma mater, West Torrance High School (Torrance, CA), serving as an assistant track & field coach ('79-'83).  

Todd received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physical Education from California State University, Long Beach and his Masters of Arts in Physical Education from California State University, Dominguez Hills.  He holds a Cooper Clinic Certification in Exercise Physiology as well as a USATF Level II Certification in the horizontal and vertical jumps.  Todd is a sought out sports announcer, announcing at a number of premier sporting events and is the permanent annoucer of the North American Pole Vaulting Championships (streets of Clovis, CA) and the world renown National Pole Vault Summit (Reno, NV).     

Todd and his wife Janet (Pestolesi), reside in Walnut and are are proud parents of three grown children Matt, Mallory and Kaitlyn.  In his free time he enjoys gardening, reading, traveling and spending time with his family.
